The Delivery Team Standing By!!
The main way in which we raise money for charity is through our weekly sale of second-hand furniture, which takes place every Saturday morning from 8.30am until 11.30am at our store in May Lane, Dursley. This event has become very popular in the local community and people will often travel from further a field to have a browse. All the furniture we sell has been kindly donated to us by the community, and ranges from single wooden chairs, to three-piece suites and from beds of all sizes to wall units, dressers and dining tables. We also sell bric-a-brac and books, and on occasion videos, and DVD's. If you live locally, we can even deliver the larger items for you free of charge* (Terms & conditions apply).
This sale is for everyone, and no-one is given any preferential treatment. All sales are on a first come, first serve basis. If you wish to have a look, then we suggest you arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Want to donate?
We are constantly on the lookout for quality furniture and white goods (cookers, microwaves & fridges) for our sale. Maybe you are moving to a smaller property, or have bought a new dining table? Rather than throw furniture out, contact us first. If the item is of good condition, and meets our requirements, we will gladly collect** (Terms & conditions apply) it from you free of charge, but please don't be disappointed if we are unable to accept items for reasons of safety or quality. For more information on furniture donations, or to arrange a collection, please call us on 01453 544471. Calls will be diverted to a Lions member who will be able to assist you.
*Free delivery: This is normally encompassing an area from Berkeley to Stroud. Please note that items will only be delivered to the ground floor and will normally only be carried out on that Saturday morning before midday, so long as we have transport available. If you are intending to buy a large item, and won't be in to receive it, please make arrangements with a neighbour or friend. If we try to deliver, and are unable to get a reply, we will either leave the item outside, or return it to our store. A charge will be payable for re-delivery. Please also note that items are 'sold as seen'. We cannot take any responsibility for items damaged through delivery.
**Furniture collection: This is normally encompassing an area from Berkeley to Stroud. Upon calling us, please make sure you give us as much information about the furniture as possible to help us evaluate it. If it meets out requirements we will arrange to collect it from you on either a Monday or a Tuesday. We won't be able to give you a specific time of collection but the van is normally collecting furniture between 8am - 2pm & 6pm - 9pm Mondays, and 6pm - 9pm on Tuesdays. Please make sure you are available between these times. An agreement to collect furniture over the phone is not a contract. If the item is of poor condition upon our arrival, we will not accept it. This decision is made by the Lions members on collection duty, and their decision is final.
The above restrictions are in place in order to keep our costs down. The sale is meant to raise money for us to donate to worthy causes. As with all our events, this is a non-profit event. Although we will do our best to cater for all collection and delivery requirements, transport is our biggest expense. Please also be aware that the Lion members working on the van or at the sale itself, are volunteers and selflessly give up their time unpaid.
